PROJECT
THE GOAL
Menu is the first thing a customers receives at the restaurant when starting the dinner. It is crucial to make a good impression on the customer from the very beginning. What do you want to tell about your restaurant? Are you classy, easy-going, playful or modern?
THE RESULT
The vibe of your restaurant should be portrayed in the menu. What materials are used, fonts, colours and the tone of voice in the menu. My speciality is understanding the feeling of the restaurant and creating a menu that is perfect for that exact place. Visually and also that it is easy to use and understand.
Here are few menus with very different styles that I have created. I have experience in creating printed menus as well as online menus with QR -codes. Nowadays it is good to have both - very well working online version and a stylish and clean printed menu.
Clean & trendy cocktail menu - Gate A21
Gate A21 is a super trendy and popular cocktail bar in the heart of Helsinki city center. The bar needed a new cocktail menu after rebranding – the focus of this menu was to highlight and celebrate their most popular cocktails from the past 5 years. So I designed a menu with a classy vibe with a modern twist. Gold is one of their signature colours so I chose to use it in this menu, but adding some ruff elements to keep it hip. Since Gate A21 is busy space with dim lighting, it was clear to me I needed to make the menu as clean as possible - so you can easily find all the needed info in the midst of partying. Kippis!

Elegant Italian restaurant menu - Trattoria Nonna Sophia
Example of an elegant restaurant menu is this one I designed for an Italian trattoria. The menu is reflecting the style of the restaurant - restaurant with high-end products from Italy. The owner also wanted to have a feeling of the 50’s in Europe and this is portrayed in the font choices I made. Restaurant is full of Italian flag coloures - red and green, I chose to use the green with the ochre colour from the restaurant logo.

Sporty wings restaurant menu - McGary’s wing bar
Wings restaurant has a sporty feel, and is run by an famous ice hockey player - so the sporty vibe of the menu is really in place here. In the menu there is also a QR -code that takes the customer to their Instagram page, to encourage people to tag their restaurant visit on social media and also to start following the restaurant page.

Fresh & modern lunch menu - Taste Restaurants
While creating a new - fresh & modern - website for Taste, I also updated their lunch list design to go hand in hand with the new site. I made sure Taste has menus they can print, use on the website and also share easily on social media. For mobile I designed a Instagram Story size menu so the restaurant can share their daily lunch menu on social media. A4 size menu is easy to share on on the website and can be printed to have on the table at the restaurant.

Modern restaurant menu: QR -code that takes you to online menu - GG Bar & Cafe
Modern example is the one I created for a game bar. The owners wanted the freedom to change the menu when they want and didn’t want a printed menu at all. This has become a trend after the pandemic - many restaurants are having only online menus. I created a QR -code that takes you to the bar’s website with their street food menu. I created a menu that presents their style. I added fonts that are familiar from video games and the colours where futuristic and similar to their own logo. With the QR -code, I designed stickers that were put on the tables of the bar so the customers can go and check the menu on their own mobile.

Delicious brand loyalty ad campaign - Patisserie Teemu Aura
Patisserie Teemu Aura wanted to promote that they are using Cluby App - an app where you can get discounts as an loyal customer. They needed to get the word out about the app to their customers.
I created an unique QR -code for them that leads to the app. I designed posters for the campaign that where put inside the cafes – and attached the QR to the posters. Also made business card sized flyers that can be given to people or dropped in their Wolt take away bags. Last step was to blast it all over on social media. Through Instagram Stories link we got lots of hits to the App. And people have found the app through this campaign - success. Print is not dead. We should use it still for balance.

Campaign poster design
While working with Onniravintolat, I have designed plenty of posters for different kind of campaigns for different style of restaurants. Always thinking of the brand of the restaurant and ways to catch the attention of the person walking by. I want to stay honest and value the brand of the restaurant and create things that are not the typical solutions - for example these Father’s day posters. What do you want to present in front of your company?

Digital screens | Marketing materials - Onniravintolat
While working with Onniravintolat, I have designed multiple different digital screen ads for their different restaurants – offers, event promotion, lunch menus and videos to highlight the restaurants services. Digital screens are a great way nowadays to showcase the services you want to highlight – and you can change them quickly & easily. Perfect pair for long lasting menu prints, I say.
